Apostle Spoons 6 Antique Victorian Silver, Sifter Spoon and Tongs. The six spoons have a shell shape bowl, with a fluted edge (which is on both sides) and they have a light gilding to the inside of the bowls. They have a barley twist pattern to the handles and then culminating in an apostle top which shows the front and back of the apostle. This set of spoons also comes with a dainty pair of sugar tongs which have the front of the apostle forming part of the handle and having the same shape bowls and twisted handle. Also matching the other items is a sifter spoon which the shaped sifter holes forming what I can best describe as a flower shape. This lovely set comes complete in its origional fitted deep blue lined box. 5 of the Spoons BIRMINGHAM, 1 spoon, the tongs and sifter spoon CHESTER. All dated for 1895/96. The 5 spoons W.D (William Davenport), the 1 spoon, tongs and sifter spoon JD over WD (James Deakin & Sons - John & William F Deakin).
The spoons 4 inches long, the bowls just under 1.5 inches long and 0.75 inch wide at their widest. The tongs just over 3.5 inches long and the sifter spoon 2.75 incheds long, the bowl just under 1.5 inches in diametger. The total weight os silver is 65g. All the items are in very good condition. The box is in very good condition inside, but there is some wear to the outside covering, but the clasp is in good working order and shuts tightly. This really is a very pretty cased set of 6 spoons, tongs and sifter spoon, and if you did want to keep them for yourself, would make a lovely Engagement, Wedding or Silver Wedding present for a special couple

6 Silver Gilt Flower Enamel Spoons. The bowls are extrememly pretty having a pearly white enamel background with enamelled orange flowers that have yellow centres, surrounded by green leaves and brown stems. The backs of the bowls are completely plain. They have Art Deco shaped terminals and a lined pattern to both sides of the handles. They do come in a black box but I cannot confirm if this is the original. Although they have the same Assay Office, and makers, they do have slightly different date letters, but I can confirm that the spoons are exactly the same. Stock Number 4563
