Georgian Silver Caddy Spoon

georgian-silver-caddy-spoon-IMG_9393Georgian Silver Caddy Spoon Hallmarked 1791 offered for sale by Silver2treasure.

This is a good Antique Georgian (in the reign of King George III) Solid Silver Caddy Spoon. It has an elongated shell shape bowl and a pretty bright cut pattern to the front of the handle. It has 2 very fancy entwined initials engraved in the cartouche which I think are "EP" but as they are so fancy I could be wrong. There is no Assay Office stamp but this is not unusual for silver items of this age but it can only be London in conjunction with the other marks

Assay Office: LONDON

Date: 1791

Makers Marks: IP (these could be either John Priestman or James Phipps)

Dimensions: Just under 3.5 inches long in total, the bowl being 2 inches long and 1.5 inches wide at its widest point. It weighs 9g

Condition: On first look it appears to be in very good condition but there appears to have been a professional repair to the handle but I have to stress that this is only noticed on very very close inspection. Also part of the lion passant mark is missing but the other marks are very clear

Remarks: This is a very good antique Georgian solid silver 219 year old caddy spoon and a lovely addition to any collection.

Priced at £130 in our ebay store with free UK postage.
